ABOUT THE PROJECT

 

FOOTBALL SHIRTS STREET is a street photography project documenting the people, shirts and stories found in everyday football culture.

 

Based in Osaka, Japan, the project captures supporters, travellers and local people wearing football shirts in the city — and asks one simple question:

 

“Why this shirt today?”

WHY THIS SHIRT TODAY?

 

Every football shirt carries something beyond the badge.

 

A player.
A club.
A place.
A memory.
A moment.

 

FSS records the reason a shirt is being worn on that particular day — turning a simple street portrait into a small piece of football culture.

The project is not about collecting shirts.
It is about documenting the people who wear them.

 

Vintage shirts, current kits, local clubs, national teams, family memories, travelling supporters and everyday street style all become part of the same archive.

 

Each portrait is a record of football culture as it exists in real life.
